Hi, I'm Jim Kimmons, broker/owner of Gallery Realty of Taos. This is my second time to live in Taos, and I've been here this time since 2000. I left once, but missed the beauty and unique nature of the cultural mix and the arts in Taos and Northern New Mexico.
As I'm also a freelance writer, mostly business and real estate topics, I sit at a computer a lot. You'll find that it makes me fast on the email responses, and I do all of my own website work and writing as well. As I've set up my business as a Buyer Brokerage, I no longer take listings. However, I do real estate consulting, so can work with sellers who find their own buyers, or for any other reason are selling without listing.
As the Real Estate Business Guide writer for the New York Times at http://RealEstate.About.com, I am continually monitoring all aspects of our business, as that site is all about writing for the trade, Realtors, Mortgage Brokers, and real estate investors. You'll find that I'm more on top of what's going on in national and international markets than any other broker in Taos, as I also freelance write for an International Real Estate Investors' newsletter, and others.
As a freelance writer, I've ghost written several books on real estate investing and technology. However, my own book is now out, 70 Things First Time Home Buyers Need To Know, from Turner Publishing. It's of value to any buyer who wants to understand the process better in order to take charge of their real estate transaction, from the first of their search through to closing.
I'm also a statistics nerd, as you'll see from the stats posted in various places on the site. I don't know how a buyer's broker can serve their client's best interests if they're not on top of what's going on all of the time. Using sold statistics, current listing competition analysis, and absorption rates, I am better able to help my buyers to make offers that will save them money, but also have a reasonable chance of successfully moving to closing.
