<li class="page2rssins"> <b>Quemado</b>May 11, Kasee Ganado, age 4, from Alamo caught her very first fish. It was a 15-inch, 1.5-pound rainbow trout. She was using salmon eggs.May 12, “Pie Town” Karen caught a 24-inch, 6-pound rainbow trout. She was using nightcrawlers. </li>
<li class="page2rssins"> n May 10, Rob Covelli of Albuquerque caught and released a 45.5-inch, 28-pound tiger musky. He was using shrimp. From May 10 through May 12, Covelli caught and released 10 catfish between 10 and 20 pounds and 17 tiger musky. He was using shrimp for the catfish and Rapalas for the tiger musky.

<p> <b>May 14</b> </p>
<p class="page2rssins"> Water flow below Eagle Nest on Monday was 26 cfs. Trout fishing was very good using Panther Martins, poly wing emergers, elk hair caddis, Cimarron specials, Cimarron worms, salmon eggs and worms. Anglers reported catching several healthy holdover fish from previous-year stockings. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using Pistol Petes, small spinners, salmon eggs and Power Bait. Hot spot for trout: Fishing was very good using Power Bait and homemade dough baits for limits of rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species. Fishing was fair using stink bait and nightcrawlers for catfish. A few smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using tube jigs, senkos, jerk baits and spinner baits. We had no reports on other species. The stream flow is quite low but trout fishing was fair using Power Bait and salmon eggs in the beaver pond areas. The boat ramps are open and the boat docks were put in place last Friday. Fishing for northern pike was fair to good using spoons, jerk bait, swim baits and clousers. Fishing for trout was fair to good from the bank and from anchored boats for anglers using Power Bait and salmon eggs. Anglers trolling did best using Arnies and Platte River specials. Fishing for perch was fair to good using worms. <b>Hopewell</b> We had a report from one angler who walked in here last week and did well using bead-head nymphs, worms and Fisher Chick spinners. All the fish caught were pan size rainbow trout. Fishing was good using Power Bait, homemade dough bait and salmon eggs for stocked rainbow trout. Fishing pressure was light. Fishing was very good using Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms, Pistol Petes, Panther Martins, wooly buggers and parachute adams for trout. The annual fishing derby will be  May 31-June 2. Give it a try and let us know how you do.Over the weekend trout fishing was slow but there were a few taken by anglers using Power Bait, salmon eggs and small spinners. Trout fishing was good using Power Bait, homemade dough bait, worms, cheese, corn and salmon eggs. The lake level is quite low. Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 68 cfs and the water was clear. Light tackle anglers should have a good time here. This past week, trout fishing was good using elk hair caddis, emergers, worms, salmon eggs and spinners. Water flow near the hatchery Monday was 48 cfs. Trout fishing was good using poundmeisters, elk hair caddis, San Juan worms, Cimarron worms, small streamers, nightcrawlers, Panther Martins and worms. Hot spot for trout: Fishing continued to be very good using caddis, mayflies, streamers, Panther Martins, Fisher Chick spinners, salmon eggs and worms for trout. Fishing was good using streamers and small jerk baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using streamers, big leech patterns and Rapalas for northern pike. Water flow near the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday was 317 cfs.<b>Rio Hondo:</b> Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 24 cfs. Trout fishing on the lower river was good using elk hair caddis, poundmeisters and salmon eggs. Stream flow near Terrero on Monday was 16 cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms, salmon eggs, nightcrawlers and small nymph patterns.Water flow near Penasco on Monday was 19 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using poundmeisters, small copper John Barrs and elk hair caddis. Fishing was fair to good using garlic cheese and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species. Fishing was very good trolling crank baits for white bass. Most of the whites were 6 to 8 feet below the surface. Fishing was good using senkos, worms, smallie beavers and grubs in shallow water for smallmouth bass and an occasional largemouth bass. Fishing was good using stink bait for catfish. Fishing for crappie and walleye was slow with just a few fish taken by anglers using minnows, grubs and crank baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 60s. </p>
<p class="page2rssins"> Fishing was fair to good using zonkers and jerk baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing near the boat dock was great for two anglers using nightcrawlers, jigs and poppers. They caught a mixed bag of walleye, catfish, brown trout and rainbow trout. Water flow near Aztec on Monday was 452 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using nightcrawlers, spinners and wooly buggers for trout. There are still plenty of holdover stocked trout in these waters for some good close-to-home fishing. Give it a try and do a little bass fishing in the process. Fishing was very good using Rapalas, swim baits, jerk baits, clousers and spoons for tiger musky. We had no reports on other species with the exception of the catfish listed in Catches of the Week. The surface water temp was in the mid to high 50s. Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 829 cfs and 813 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms and nightcrawlers for stocked rainbows and a few small browns. Fishing below Abiquiu was slow. Fishing was fair to good using liver, blood bait and nightcrawlers for catfish. Fishing was fair using tubes, senkos, sweet beavers and spinner baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from the high 50s to the low 60s. Trout fishing was good for anglers using garlic scented Power Bait, salmon eggs, worms, corn, wooly buggers, olive Pistol Petes and Kastmasters. Fishing for lake trout was slow. A few kokanee were caught by anglers using Panther Martins. The slowdown in lake trout fishing may be due to the drop in the water level over the past several days. We had no reports on other species. Trout fishing was fair using Power Bait, salmon eggs and garlic cheese. Stream flow on the Jemez on Monday was 35 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez was good using emergers, elk hair caddis, small copper John Barrs, worms and salmon eggs. Fishing on the San Antonio and East Fork was good using brassies, egg patterns, hares ears, emergers and worms. Fishing on the Cebolla was fair to good using worms, salmon eggs, small copper John Barrs and caddis. Trout fishing was good using worms, Power Bait, spinners, small spoons and salmon eggs. Anglers described fishing here as very good during the week but only fair on the weekend. Fishing was good using tube jigs, worms, senkos and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using small tubes and curly tail grubs for crappie. The best crappie action reported was from the upper Pine and in La Jara Canyon. Rob Degner reported that his guests have caught a few nice browns while crappie and bass fishing. They were in the 5 to 8 pound range. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from 54 to 64 degrees. <b>San Juan</b> Water flow below Navajo on Monday was 291 cfs. Fishing in the Quality Water section was good using brown or grey foam back emergers, green eggs, olive streamers, olive wooly buggers, flash back pheasant tails and parachute adams. Fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using wooly buggers, copper John Barrs, nightcrawlers, Power Bait and salmon eggs. Fishing was good using Fisher Creek spinners, Pistol Petes, Power Bait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. Anglers using worms also caught a few bluegills. We had no reports on other species. Spent a couple of hours here Saturday. Fishing was slow at all the ponds. Saw four small rainbows on stringers at the Central Pond. All were caught on salmon eggs. Spinners were not working at any of the ponds and flies weren’t doing much better with just a few strikes missed and one fish landed. During the week, one angler did well at the Catch and Release Pond. He was using small midge patterns and fishing on the east side of the pond. </p>
<p class="page2rssins"> Fishing was fair to good using tubes, smallie beavers, jerk baits, senkos and jigs for largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using nightcrawlers and stink bait for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait, Pistol Petes and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species. Fishing was slow to fair using nightcrawlers and liver for catfish. Fishing was slow for all other species although there were a few walleye and white bass caught by anglers using crank baits and grubs. The west-side main boat ramp is still open. The east-side ramp remains closed. The surface water temp ranged from the high 50s to the mid 60s. Fishing was good using white crank baits, grubs and jerk baits for white bass. The best reports we received were from anglers fishing the south side of Long Point. Fishing was fair using minnows, grubs and small jigs for crappie. Fishing was good using smallie beavers, senkos, tubes, chatterbaits, spinner baits crank baits for black bass. Fishing was good using shrimp, nightcrawlers and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using grubs, spinners, minnows, swim baits and crank baits for white bass and an occasional crappie. We had no reports on other species. The Monticello and Dam Site boat ramps remain closed due to low water conditions. The Rock Canyon ramp has reopened. Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 62 cfs. Fishing on the Forks was fair using copper John Barrs, bead-head pheasant tails and elk hair caddis. We had no reports from the main river. Hot spot for trout: Although fishing pressure was down this past week, fishing was very good using worms, Power Bait, garlic cheese and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species but fishing for bass should be good. Give it a try. Fishing was very good using nightcrawlers, Power Bait and salmon eggs for trout up to 24 inches. We had no reports on tiger musky. Water flow below Elephant Butte on Monday was 12 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. </p>
<p class="page2rssins"> Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 2.3 cfs. Trout fishing was slow.Trout fishing was slow. Fishing was slow. Trout fishing was fair to good using parachute adams, worms and salmon eggs. Trout fishing was very good using Power Bait, worms, salmon eggs, small Kastmasters, small Z Rays, Pistol Petes and spinners. We had no reports on other species. Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday was 66 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait and worms for trout. A few catfish were caught by anglers using worms and liver. Fishing was slow. Stream flow near Hollywood on Monday was .08 cfs. We had no reports from anglers.<br />
: The lake has reopened to boating but the launch area is undeveloped and boating is restricted to no wake speed only. Fishing was fair using jerk baits, senkos and tubes for smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, minnows, grubs and tubes for walleye. A few crappie were taken by anglers using worms, minnows, grubs and tubes. We had no reports on other species.<br />
Fishing picked up a bit this past week as anglers reported catching white bass, walleye, crappie and smallmouth bass. Best baits were grubs, minnows, jerk baits, nightcrawlers and crank baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the high 50s to low 60s. The Violation Canyon boat ramp remains open at this time and will remain open as long as lake levels permit. </p>
