Even better, as I take new photos, they're added to a great mapping site, and you can view maps by items of interest in the Taos area.  As each map has the links to the others at the top, I'll just take you here to the Taos Arts Map as an example.  All are easily accessed from the Maps tab at the top of every page.  You can zoom, change map type, and mouse over the icons or the images for more information.

I'm trying to map every hotel, motel, b&b, business, building, restaurant, gallery, studio, horse trail, hiking trail and campground in the Enchanted Circle area.  To do that, I need to take a photo at the site, but I don't mind, and it's free.  I want this to be the best site on the Web for Taos area information.  So, if you have a business or favorite location you want mapped, email it to me, and I'll move it up higher on the list.  These maps will get more on them as quickly as I can take the photos.

Carson National Forest has agreed to public examination of an off-road vehicle management plan.  Previously, this plan was refused to the public, and the Center for Biological Diversity has been active in getting these documents released.  They have prevailed, and it is expected that the environmental assessments will be made available for public review and comment in September.

High Style Fashion Boutique in Heart of Taos, NM to Host Special Fashion Event

(April 23, 2009, Taos, NM) Jewelz of Taos will be presenting a special fashion event May 8^th and 9^th in celebration of the opening of “The Summer of Love” festival occurring this summer in Taos. The contemporary fashion boutique will be offering special, all-day presentations on layering, accessorizing, “new takes” on wardrobe staples and more.

The highlight of the event will be the newly arrived design line from Love Shop Clothing. Harkening back to the original Summer of Love Days, Love Shop Clothing typifies gentle floral prints in easy to wear, flattering styles. Peasant dresses, bohemian tops and flowing skirts come together in a wide variety of soft, pleasing colors and sensuous apparel, perfect for the ease and languor of beautiful summer days.

The event will also showcase newly designed jewelry by Z Kastrin, owner of Jewelz of Taos, who will also be heading the fashion presentations. Z has a long legacy herself in the world of fashion. Z began her career as fashion photographer of women’s clothing. Her interaction with the world of couture inspired Z to begin her own line of fashion clothing, working primarily with suedes and leathers. Her line incorporated very unique styles previously unseen in the fashion world which came to be worn by Meg Ryan, Brooke Shields, Whitney Houston, while also appearing on The Today Show and in films such as Inner Space. Her creative output naturally led to accessories and she began designing jewelry in turquoise and gold. Her jewelry designs continued to evolve and came to be sold at the prestigious Bishop’s Lodge Resort and Spa in Santa Fe and at the courtier-clothing store, Laura Shepherd. With these fashion presentations, Z will be presenting an entirely new body of jewelry designs for this special event, pieces full of semi-precious stones and fun, bold jewels.

Z’s love of beauty and fashion led to the opening of Jewelz of Taos which is dedicated to the enhancement of the feminine. We missed feeding time, but you might want to call them at 575-387-2254 to make sure you can get in on the fun of feeding. We also arrived right after they had finished shearing, so the video shows a bunch of very smooth animals.

Their gift shop is filled with great things related to and made from alpaca fiber. The video pans through the gift shop, and then we see the animals. Notice when I get too close to the large white one, the ears.
