Town of Taos Council Special Meeting Highlights and 2 News Brief Items 9/3/10
1) Approval of revised “Reduction In Force; Furlough” ordinance for the Town of Taos, #10-22, as amended (i.e., “notice is hand deliver in presence of HR Director if feasible; certified mail is not.”). A copy was sent out earlier this week. Need another? Email this office. No reductions/furloughs are proposed at this time. This revision aligns the Town’s ordinance with the State’s provisions.
2) Mayor extended thanks to the Taos community and staff for the excellent job of hosting this year’s New Mexico Municipal League Conference. A formal recognition of all who assisted is planned for next Council meeting.
3) 40th Anniversary Blue Lake Commemoration by Taos Pueblo. Recent press release attached.
4) Taos Community: Consider these questions: How will climate change impact our tourist economy and recreation businesses? How can we influence local and regional economic policies to create employment opportunities in the new energy economy? What is the relationship between climate change and healthy watersheds and forest resources? What are the goals and objectives for adapting to climate change in Taos County?
We need answers to these questions, and that is why the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is hosting this very important meeting. You are invited to the HACT Building on September 15th from 12:00 to 1:30 PM to discuss these questions and help develop a plan to address climate change in Taos County. We hope you can attend this very important meeting, and look forward to seeing you. Questions? Matt Foster, mfoster@taosgov.com.
Have safe holiday weekend.
