August 28 & 29, 2010 The 36th Annual Taos County Fair This annual event is a showcase of Taos County's finest arts and crafts, baked goods, canned goods, quilts, flowers, vegetables and needlecraft. We also have a livestock show and Jr. Livestock auction, Sheep Lead Contest, Watermelon Eating Contest, Pie Eating Contest, Best Salsa in Taos contest and, for the little ones, a pet parade. August 28, 2010 A Russian Night in Taos Join the Taos Art Museum for its 6th annual gala fundraiser for an unforgettable evening of dancing, dining and art, complete with live and silent auctions.
The Taos Art Museum is housed in the home of Nicolai Fechin, who moved with his family to Taos in 1927. Born in Russia, Fechin is one of the most important portrait painters of the 20th Century. His paintings of Native Americans and of the New Mexico desert landscape are considered among his best works.
