Town of Taos Reorganization Continues 8.18.10

As discussed at the last regular Council meeting at which the .25% gross receipts tax increase was passed, Town of Taos Management is returning to Council at their 1:30 pm, September 3rd special meeting, with a reduction in force revised ordinance. Additional, potential cost saving measures will be discussed later in September.

One such expense reduction action is being taken immediately, as of 8/18/10: The Town of Taos Convention Center’s Bataan and Rio Grande Halls, Civic Plaza Dr., will immediately cease having new reservations taken for them. All existing event reservations will be honored. In essence, Rio Grande and Bataan Halls are being closed by the Town of Taos as of today.

This discontinuance of new, scheduled events in these halls is in anticipation of a request for proposal (RFP) by the Town to lease out these rooms to other entities to further save Town of Taos overhead expenses.
