Town of Taos News Brief 6/9/10, 3 items
1) UNM-Taos preliminary casting for The Promised Land, created by filmmaker Michael Grais, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Grais, is scheduled for this weekend, 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12 at the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus. These auditions are open to teenagers age 15 to 19 and adults age 23 to 60. This low budget production is part of the UNM-Taos film program and is planned for airing online at www.StrikeTV.com. Outside of offering performance roles, this new “online television” series will help train Taos locals in production-side skills in this industry. It is also an effort that will help to show all that Taos is, and all that it offers, to the world in a unique, entertainment/drama format. For more information, and limited underwriting opportunities, contact UNM-Taos’ Gary Cook, 575-737-6276. Filming will start in late July, 2010.

Please bring work gloves, hat, long sleeved shirt, long pants, sturdy shoes. Everyone is welcome to join the 2010 Taos River and Trail Cleanup, a community effort to clean up our watersheds and hiking trails. Joining together, people of Taos have and cleaned up trash along our rivers for the past three years in a community effort. In 2009, we cleaned up sites along five rivers in Taos County. This year, we will also work on trails in the area of or near the Taos Overlook and plant trees at Fred Baca Park. After the morning work, Centinel Bank will host a hamburger cookout for all participants.

Please help our fellow members of the Taos community clean up and prevent littering and dumping of trash on our trails & waterways. This event is sponsored and organized by Centinel Bank, Amigos Bravos, Sierra Club Water Sentinels and Rocky Mountain Youth Corps.
