"The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans"
Tuesday February 2 at 7:30 PM
Country: USA Language: English Runtime: 122 min
Rated R for drug use and language throughout, some violence and sexuality.
"Werner Herzog's "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call, New Orleans" creates a dire portrait of a corrupt cop and degenerate paranoid who's very apprehensive about iguanas. It places him in a devastated New Orleans not long after Hurricane Katrina. It makes no attempt to show that city of legends in a flattering light. And it gradually reveals itself as a sly comedy about a snaky but courageous man. No one is better at this kind of performance than Nicolas Cage. He's a fearless actor." --Roger Ebert, rogerebert.com
"The Private Lives of Pippa Lee"
Sunday, February 7 at 2:00 PM
Monday and Tuesday,
February 8 & 9 at 7:30 PM
Country: USA , Language: English, Runtime: 98 min
Rated R for sexual content, brief nudity, some drug material and language.
"Ms. Wright Penn plays Pippa in Rebecca Miller's new comedy of manners, and her character's age matters because she's having a midlife crisis and a marital crisis all at once. Her much older husband (Alan Arkin) has moved them from New York into an upscale Connecticut retirement community, and that's just for starters. Pippa doesn't break down but she's acting out in strange ways without even knowing it. Ms. Wright Penn has made the women she has played memorable, but nearly all were secondary. In "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee," Ms. Miller gives her center stage, and she makes it her own." --Karen Durbin, The New York Times
