1) Escape the Modern Day.  Rejuvenate in Taos.  Return to Sacred Places.

 

Quarterly Taos Tourism Meeting, 11 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m., tomorrow, Tues., January 26, El Alcalde Rm., Town of Taos Convention Center, Civic Plaza Dr.

 

The Taos Tourism meeting is also tomorrow at 9 a.m. in the same location noted above, Town Convention Center.

 

Then at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening, Rick Romancito, Editor, TEMPO, The Taos News, is sponsoring an open forum discussion about how to improve the position of Taos in the context of the arts, Kit Carson Board Rm., Cruz Alta.

 

Bring new ideas, openness and a positive attitude to any or all of these meetings.  They are a refreshed launch of activity for 2010.

2) 2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTION – MARCH 2, 2010 AT RIO GRANDE HALL SECTION A – 7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.

 

ABSENTEE/EARLY VOTING

Absentee Voting: begins January 26, 2010 at the Town Clerk’s Office

Early Voting (paper ballot/electronic vote tabulators): begins February 10, 2010 at the Town Clerk’s Office

Last day for Absentee/Early Voting:  February 26, 2010

 

The Town Clerk’s Office will remain open during the lunch hour (12-1 p.m.) for absentee/early voting

 

REGISTER TO VOTE

Last day to register to vote: February 2, 2010 at the County Clerk’s Office

 

WHO MAY VOTE IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION?

·           Any qualified elector whose name is shown on the signature roster of the Municipal Clerk.  A qualified elector is someone who is registered to vote with the Taos County Clerk.  To vote in a municipal election, the voter must reside within the Town limits, where his/her residence is, as shown on the voter registration on file with the county clerk.  (A voter who owns property, owns a business or has a Post Office box within the Town limits is not considered a qualified elector, unless he/she also resides in the Town limits).

 

·           If a voter’s name is not on the signature roster, he/she is permitted to vote upon providing his/her certified voter registration from the County Clerk’s office, and upon swearing and affirming that he/she is a qualified elector resident of the Town of Taos.

 

·           A person providing false information on their voter registration, fraudulently votes or who votes or offers to vote more than once is guilty of a fourth degree felony.  A fourth degree felony is punishable by up to 18 months in jail and/or a $5,000 fine.
