Town of Taos News Brief 1/15/10, 3 items
1) Reminder: Town of Taos is closed this Monday, January 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This includes Town Hall/Public Utilities Payment Window, Chile Line Services, the Library, Youth & Family, Recycling Center, the Taos Regional Landfill (closed for public drop off; curb side pick up continues its regular schedule), and all other offices.
2) Reminder: State of the Town address this Tuesday, January 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Rio Grande Hall, Town of Taos Convention Center. The State of the Town will include acknowledgements of the Town’s hardworking Planning & Zoning Commission Members. Then, immediately following just across the street from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the free Grand Opening of Town Hall to celebrate its $6M renovation/expansion and formally launch the Art in Town Hall Program, a gift art through the Taos Land Trust by Horacio Trujillo for artist/photographer Dorie Hagler to complete four works for Town Hall. The evening will also include improved protections to preserve and highlight the exterior Town Hall murals by George Chacon and Giovanna Paponetti, live classical student quartet music led by pro violinist Ani Schwartz, and refreshments compliments of Smith’s. Mayor Cordova and the Town Council will introduce these programs and people at the Town Hall Reception at approximately 7 p.m., concluding with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
3) American Airlines promotes Taos – Griffin & Associates: Marketing executives at American Airlines have communicated with Griffin & Associates about promoting Taos, and develop further relationships to do so. Their message: “We do want to talk to you to discuss opportunities for promoting our service to Santa Fe/Taos. While we are currently promoting the Taos connection on radio spots in L.A., and have already done so in Dallas, we would very much appreciate the opportunity to work with your web marketing…hopefully we can all get together via phone this week.”
