Town of Taos Council 12/22/09 Amended Agenda; January 2010 Calendar Highlights
1) Attached is the amended agenda for tomorrow’s Town of Taos 12/22 Special Council Meeting starting at 1:30 p.m., Town Council Chambers, Civic Plaza Dr. The amendment includes the appointment of the Town of Taos Police Chief (Item 12 A).
2) The public relations office for the Town of Taos will be closed Wed., December 23, through Friday, January 2, 2010. No news briefs will be distributed during this time period. 3) Town of Taos January 2010 Highlights and Calendar (as of 12/21/09):
· Transportation: Chile Line Fixed Route and ADA HandiVan will not be in service on January 1 for New Years Day and January 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Taos Ski Valley shuttles will run their reg. service over the holidays. Taos Express will also not be in service on New Years Day, January 1, but Thurs-Sun regular service will resume on Saturday, January 2. Check out schedules at www.TaosGov.com (click on Transportation at the top of the page) and www.TaosExpress.com. Town of Taos Transportation Div. 751-4459 - for info. on all the above, including HandiVan or Taos Express reservations. Taos Express reservations can also be made by email online from www.TaosExpress.com.
· Town of Taos Public Library: 10:30 – 11:30 am every Thursday, Toddler’s Story Time, with different crafts that children can make and take home. And, 10:30 – 11:30 am every Saturday, Story Time, featuring volunteer storytellers from the local Taos Kiwanis Club.

· 1/07 Eco Tourism for Taos: See how you can work with your community, your region and your state to promote your business to the burgeoning eco-tourism market. · 1/12 Regular Town Council Meeting, 1:30 pm, Council Chambers, 120 Civic Plaza Dr. Reminder: You can now listen to Council meetings via the internet. Just go to www.TaosGov.com and click on the ‘listen now’ button in the lower right hand section of the homepage (see instructions online for making sure you have the correct software). Council agendas and information about each item are also available online.
· 1/18 Town Offices are Closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This includes the local Chile Line transportation service. Taos Regional Landfill is also closed for public drop off (but curbside trash pick-up by WMA will continue uninterrupted).
· 1/19 State of the Town address by Mayor Cordova and Council, 5-6 p.m., Rio Grande Hall, 121 Civic Plaza Dr. Then walk on over to the new Town Hall for its Grand Opening Reception, 6-7:30 p.m., including the formal launch of the new Art in Town Hall program and photographs for the Town’s permanent art collection by Dorie Hagler, underwritten by a generous donation via the Taos Land Trust. Free, refreshments served, all at Town Hall -- 400 Camino de la Placita.
· 1/23-24 Taos US Naval Sea Cadets Program, 8 am-5 pm, El Alcalde Room, Coronado Hall, 120 Civic Plaza Dr. For more info. Roberto Molino 737-0138.
· 1/26 Absentee voting begins by mailing or issuing ballots in Town Clerk’s office for 3/2 election. More info. from Town Clerk Rene Lucero, 751-2005.
· 1/26 – Town of Taos Quarterly Marketing Meeting, 11 am, Town of Taos Convention Center, El Alcalde Rm., Coronado Hall, 120 Civic Plaza Dr. Griffin & Assoc. will discuss the 2010 outreach theme, “Escape the Modern Day. Rejuvenate in Taos. Return to Sacred Places,” including how all can participate, www.TaosSacrePlaces.com. First deadline for content submission to take advantage of ongoing media is early February, 2010.
