Town of Taos News Brief 11/23/09

1) Town of Taos Well #3 Update: Over the weekend there were constituent calls to the Town of Taos about “brown, dirty water”, according to Town of Taos Public Utilities Director Amos Torres. The Department immediately researched the situation and found that Town of Taos Well # 3 seemed to be the source, and this well was shut down, with alternative water provided by the Town’s other wells for the affected area. As of today, the area affected includes the Town of Taos Main Post Office neighborhood to Camino de Placitas and Ranchitos to Dragoon Road along Kit Carson Road. The Town’s Public Utilities Department is flushing the main lines, and they believe the situation has been taken care of. Any remaining dirt constituents may see is probably in the service lines, and it is suggested that these lines should be flushed by constituents at their end by running water for a few minutes (8-10 min) or until the water has cleared up.
