Dear Twirl Friend,
It's such a delight to see fresh faced children all bundled up and running around on these delicious, crispy Fall days (flu bouts and sniffles excepted.) Especially for us, as it signals the start of the most exciting time on our calendar. First off is Halloween, a holiday adults seem to enjoy as much as children - probably because it's the one excuse they get to play dress-up and be the characters they enviously watch their children being all year round. We have some great witchy tutus and ready to go costumes along with accessories and colored leggings to get you started. We also have some fantastic new Deezils in from local mom Sara (see our one great new thing for more). More spooky fun is planned for Day of the Dead, and then we'll be jumping right into our preparations for Thanksgiving, with some great crafts lined up. Believe it or not, we're also well underway with our winter festival planning. We don't want to give anything away just yet, but let's just say it will be enchanting!

350 is the magic number
350--as in parts per million - is the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. 350.org is an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness of this through the creation of a grassroots global movement for a real climate solution. October 24th is set to be a planetary day of action, with organizations around the country hosting events for children to raise awareness of "Things They Can Do to Help the Planet." The local Taos event is being organized by Erin Sanborn and will take place at Parr Field on Saturday October 24th between 1-4pm. There will be pumpkin carving, craft activities (including a Twirl one), fact sheets, and it's a great chance for children to learn about this crucial issue. Fact sheets also available at Twirl, and craft session on Thursday, October 22nd and Saturday October 24th will include a 350 project.

Although not strictly new, as we had them in the store a couple of years ago, these fantastic creations are certainly worthy of our special attention this month.
