2009 Taos Summer of Love Library Lecture Series

Lisa Law and Rick Klein will speak at the next Summer of Love library event on Saturday, August 8th in the Taos Library Community Room from 2:00 – 4:00.  Lisa Law celebrated her 31^st year as a professional photographer in 1994 with the release of her award-winning documentary, “Flashing on the Sixties, a Tribal Document.” “Flashing on the Sixties” has won four major film festival awards and, along with her book of the same title, is currently used in schools today to teach the history of the sxties. Law followed up with a second book in 2000 using interviews from her movie, “Interviews with Icons, Flashing on the Sixties.” The Museum of American History at the Smithsonian has shown her work and retains a permanent collection of 208 pieces, which is complemented with a virtual exhibit called “A Visual Journey.” She is also collected in the Museum of New Mexico History in Santa Fe.

Rick Klein has lived in Taos since 1967.  He is the founder of New Buffalo commune in Arroyo Hondo and the Libre commune in Colorado.  Rick is a musician and has played in the Oriental Blues Streak Band, which reunited to perform for a Summer of Love concert, TZ Wright Band, and Jenny Vincent Trio.  He currently plays South American ceremonial music.  Rick met Lisa Law in 1967 and is featured in her book and documentary “Flashing on the Sixties.”
