Town of Taos Meetings and Highlights for June 2009

Town meetings scheduled as of 5/28/09, events sponsored by the Town, and/or those at our Town venues.

1) June 1, Taos downtown parking meters will again be “pay to park”, but free lunchtime meter parking will be offered from 12 noon to 1 p.m. to specifically accommodate residents accessing downtown merchants/services.  Plus, during regular ‘feed the meter’ hours (10 to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Mon - Sat), Town Police will issue ‘warnings’ (not tickets) for first-hour-only violations to ease everyone back into the parking change.  Reminder: The Town offers free all-day parking in the Loretto lot behind Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, off of Camino de la Placita, at Town Hall/Taos Library, and behind the Taos Center for the Arts (TCA).  See helpful parking map on the home page at www.TaosGov.com.

2) June 4, the new Taos Express Shuttle begins, a Town-sponsored non-stop weekend roundtrip bus service to the New Mexico Rail Runner’s Railyard District Station, on Guadalupe, Santa Fe, www.NMRailRunner.com.  $10 round trip for adults; children 10 and under ride free.  Pilot program schedule thru Sept.: Thurs., Fri. and Sat. evenings; Sat mornings.  ADA compliant.  Bicycles welcome.  Reservations strongly recommended (24 passenger bus) 575-751-4459.  Great for tourists and locals alike.  Check out details online at www.TaosExpress.com.  Intent is to expand this service beyond Sept. pilot, including schedule expansion as NMRR offers Sunday service.

  1. Hey,

I saw one of the highlights of June, and saw the Fathers Day comment and it got me thinking. I still have no idea what I am going to buy Dad for a gift this year. Not sure what I am going to do this year, maybe my sisters and I can club together and buy him a track day which I know he will love! At least I have the card already sorted so that’s one less thing to worry about. This year I am going to be sending Dad an eCard rather than a paper card. He loves his computer, so I am sure that he will appreciate it. I was on the net and came across a cool Fathers Day eCard site that I quite like. Up until now I had not sent an ecard before, but this site made it real simple. Hope this is helpful?
