Town Web Site and New Outreach Information, October Updates 10.2.08
Dear Constituents and Media Representatives: We’ve added October 2008 current event/meeting items to the first page of the Town‘s web site, and will plan to change them out monthly.
Hopefully, this information will more readily help answer constituents’ questions – and will be a place to direct anyone looking for monthly event/meeting information connected to the Town. We’ve had much of this information previously posted under ‘News and Community’ on the site and other drop down locations, but it is a little difficult to find (and until our web site is redesigned, we’ll work with the format we’ve got).
FYI, supplemental/secondary/background information sets will continue to be on appropriate drop down menus in addition to what’s on the Town’s main page – things like the email news briefs we send out, links to documents, etc. (And of course REALLY interested folk should sign up for my news briefs to get weekly information/updates).
Included new this month on the main page are links to (check it out) –
· Council Member Amy Quintana’s utility bill insert message/event information (each month we rotate the Mayor/Council Member who is featured as the Town’s “voice”)
· Taos’ Tourism E-Blast newsletter (goes out to 1.3 million each month – and the list is growing)
· A list of events in chronological order in the Town for October (not EVERYTHING is listed, and additions will be under News and Community as well as in New Brief emails)
· The radio ads we’re running this month on all area stations (with QuickTime on a computer one can listen to the ads by clicking on the links)
· And a new link to www.TaosVacationGuide.com, where our Taos Visitor Center page is hosted along with our “Press Room” information, tourist info., major tourism articles we have featured, etc. (this is a site by the Taos County Lodgers Association – big thank you to them and Webb Design).
We’ll also have an October print ad focused on what’s in our utility bill insert in the Taos News this coming week (Oct. 9), along with a ‘banner’ ad that runs on the Taos News web site and links to the Town’s web site from the banner so people can get all this information in yet another way.
These are now regular monthly features to help inform the public of all the Town does. We’re getting more than a 1,000 hits every few days on the newspaper’s internet banner connection, which rotates on several pages on the Taos News’ site. A similar banner web link ad will soon also be up on the Horsefly’s site as we get it designed. We’ve also expanded our public outreach/education advertising to National Public Radio’s KRZA station this year (out of Alamosa), with underwriting spots running each week, directing listeners to the Town’s web site, the Taos Vacation Guide site, and reminding them all to “Buy Fair, Buy Local” (Taos’ listenership on KRZA is large, in addition to connecting with southern Colorado listeners to get them to ‘come on down’ as tourists).
We wish to thank all Town of Taos staff for their hard work and help in putting this information together for events, meetings and activities, and putting in the extra effort to continue to improve our two-way communication with our constituents, media, neighbors, and visitors.
