Taos Man Attacked by Cougar

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that a Taos man was attacked by a cougar while hiking on Friday. Hiking west of Taos Ski Valley, 29 year old Adam Wheat was treated for scratches on his chest and released form Holy Cross Hospital. Mr. Wheat is the owner of Jack Wrapit Express in Taos.
Wheat says he used a rock to fight off the animal after it jumped on him from a rock. He also reported seeing a partially buried deer carcass nearby, a common practice of cougars.
