Smithsonian American Art Museum – Georgia O’Keeffe & Ansel Adams

In an article titled "Kindred spirits of the West," The Washington Times is correct in stating that it is difficult to shed new light on the works of Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keeffe.  Living in Taos, we are very aware of the prominence of these two artists and the influence of their work.  However, the Smithsonian manages to do it quite well.

The fresh twist concentrates "on the "natural affinities" between the nature-loving artists who worked in different media and were a generation apart." Contrasts in color from O'Keeffe and in black and white from Adams makes their southwestern landscapes a treasure for those who love nature and our area's natural wonders.

I'll let you go to the link above to see the images, as I'm not sure if I can legally replicate them here.  Let me say that a recent trip to the museum showcasing their work in Santa Fe, NM was an inspiring experience.  I just wish that I had talent in an artistic calling.  It's easy to see why there is so much attention paid to these two great artists.
