-- News Item and Thank You to Tally Richards from George R. Jaramillo, Town of Taos Library Director:

Director Jaramillo has announced that during the “Celebrating the Life of Tally”, a memorial event for Tally Richards, a gift of $50,000 was donated to the Taos Public Library to be used toward the library expansion.  This is the first major private contribution given to the Town of Taos Public Library for the proposed expansion.  Design of this expansion should be completed, and be ready to share with the public, sometime in early 2009.  Tally Richards was an avid user of the library collection and strongly believed in the freedom of information for everyone.  Ms. Richards owned the Gallery of Contemporary Art located at the corner of Ledoux Street and Camino de la Placita and moved to Palm Springs following the closing of her gallery.  Ms. Richards died April 29, 2008 in Palm Springs, California of complications stemming from lung cancer.  The gift was presented to the library by Mr. Wade Stackhouse, Ms. Richards’ brother, during the celebration of her life.

4) Reminder:  2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, Town of Taos Council Chambers, Civic Plaza Dr. – Welcome reception for Matthew Spriggs, new Town of Taos Community & Economic Development Director; followed at 3:00 p.m. by Town and Taos County Joint Meeting specifically on recycling; then followed at 5:30 p.m. by joint Town, County and Taos School Board meeting – focused on September 23^rd School Bond (Election)/joint programs.
