Areas Covered by the Taos Real Estate MLS

The Taos real estate Multiple Listing Service (MLS) covers a very large area of diverse terrain. Covering all of Taos County and parts of a couple of others, it's good to know about these diverse areas.

40+ named areas make up our MLS: If you aren't very familiar with the Taos area, seeing homes listed as in El Salto, or Costilla can make you wonder where they are. And since those two areas are about 40 miles apart, you can see the problem. Use our MLS area maps to get you on top of this information. Also check out the area descriptions in our blog.

Taos County, Rio Arriba County and more: Officially, we're the Taos County MLS, and that covers a lot of area. However, we also have a good portion of Angel Fire, Eagle Nest and Red River listings also. Making sure that you have a real estate broker with a knowledge of the area is good, but nobody knows it all. So more important is one who is careful and detail oriented when it comes to the differences in areas, title companies and county regulations.

From desert adobes to Alpine chalets: With a huge diversity of terrain, the Taos real estate spectrum is both interesting and appealing to many. You can experience the huge views from wide open sagebrush flats to the canyon closeness of alpine forests. The same diversity of construction exists. The adobe look is most common, as more of the terrain here is high desert. However, get into the mountains in Taos Canyon, toward the ski valley or up around Costilla, and you can find a-frames and alpine chalet style construction also.
