Michael Hearne’s Sixth Annual BIG BARN DANCE MUSIC FESTIVAL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 5, 2008
Do you love live acoustic music in a cool mountain setting? Then follow your ears all the way up The High Road to Taos this SEPTEMBER 4, 5 and 6, 2008, for the Northern New Mexico weekend of exceptional Southwestern Americana and Country music at MICHAEL HEARNE’S BIG BARN DANCE MUSIC FESTIVAL, featuring Michael Hearne and South by Southwest. Over the course of this three-day musical extravaganza, listen as Michael and his friends pack the stage with musical talent against the backdrop of stunning Taos Mountain.
The festival kicks off two months of festivals, including film, storytelling, wool and of course art. To get details of all the Taos Fall Festivals during September and October go to www.taoschamber.com.
The buzz of the Taos huuummmmm leads the way to the place where sunsets DO turn into stars, where the cool mountain air is thick with the sounds of World Class Singer Songwriters and Bands such as:
Trout Fishing in America . Terrie Hendrix and Lloyd Maines • The Gougers • Blacktop Gypsy • Susan Gibson • Jed Zimmerman • Chuck Pyle • The Bill Hearne Trio • John Amos • Rick Fowler • Syd Masters and The Swingriders • Kevin Deal • Shake Russell Band • Don Richmond and The Rifters • Mentor Williams • Buzz Cason • Halden Wofford and The Hi-Beams • Tom Faulkner • Ronnie Cox • Kim and The Caballeros to name just a few!
Learn to two-step in high style with Sarah Hearne and John Henry Moore. Attend a Songwriter’s Workshop with Michael Shorr and special guests. Eat some barbecue, have a cold margarita, and toast your boots by the camp-
fire. Maybe even take a little walk on the wild side! That’s what it’s all about: Good people. Good times. Great music.
THURSDAY September 4th, festivities kick off at The Old Blinking Light Restaurant, located at Mile Marker One on the Taos Ski Valley Road (State Road 150).
FRIDAY September 5th, we’re back at the Old Blinking Light for an evening designed for true music lovers only. This is an ultimate songswap event where Listening is King.
SATURDAY September 6th, the music starts early at the OBL with all your favorite southwestern country swing bands. Later that evening, for a change of pace, we’ll meet down the road a half mile from the Old Blinking Light Restaurant at the KTAOS SOLAR CENTER just in time to be in prime form for the Big Barndance Grand Finale. The new 3,200 square foot dance floor under the big tent at KTAO will finally get the workout it deserves! Halden Wofford kicks things off, followed by Michael and the Band who’ll bring it on home; and as always, there will be a few very special guests and other surprises along the way.
Every year just gets bigger and better. Get your tickets now and come on up! There are just a few more turquoise summer nights left before the cold winter snows set in. As Michael would say, “If you ain’t happy here, you ain’t happy nowhere.”
