Taos Milagro Rotary Club Scholarship Fund

The Taos Milagro Rotary Club as presents their Second Annual Scholarship Fundraiser, the Taos Chile Challenge.  The Challenge, part of the annual Taos Fall Festivals, will be held on September 28, 2008 to fund the scholarships that the club awards qualified Taos County high school graduates.  Included in the event will be a morning golf tournament, a chile “cook-off”, featuring local professionals and amateurs and a “battle of the micro-breweries.”

On October 6, 2007 the club held its inaugural Taos Chile Challenge at the Taos Country Club. They raised enough money to continue funding the four-year fine arts scholarship, in addition to approximately $6,000 for 2008 scholarships. In May 2007 they awarded eight $500 scholarships and one $1,000 scholarship per year for four years to a student studying fine arts as a memorial to local artist Gary Williams, a fellow Rotarian.  Their goal now is to establish a well-attended, annual regional event and to significantly increase their scholarship fund.
