About Time Taos Gets A Wind Farm

__dori__0409Or maybe not.  It seems that timing for recording of winds to assess the feasibility of a wind form west of the Rio Grande Gorge is a problem.  We’re going into our low wind season, and there doesn’t seem to be enough data to justify the wind farm.

In an article titled Can it be? A wind farm near Taos starts to take shape — maybe., we are told that investors are looking for permission to install 60 or more wind turbines, each around 284 feet tall with 65 foot blades.  It seems that wind tests to date have provided “acceptable” results.

There’s a lot more interesting information in the article, so give it a look.  I wondered recently during a drive through wind farms in Texas, why we had none in an area so concerned with the environment and sustainability.
