Careful! - Big Brother is Watching Your Remedies
Here’s a quote from a website about the use of castor oil as a home remedy: “Castor oil has a long history of traditional medical use dating back to ancient Egypt.” Though this quote, nor this website, appear to be a target, it could come under scrutiny based on recent events related to a Taos website. It seems that the government doesn’t like what one of our local businesses was saying about herbal remedies on their website.
Mark and Marianne Hershiser, the owners of Native Essence Herb Company here in Taos, are suing the FTC for violation of their free speech rights. It seems that the government didn’t like the information this site gave about historical and traditional herbal use. The FTC says that they can’t give out this historical information without scientific evidence to back it up. Here’s a quote from their site today: “All truthful, traditional and historic use information has been removed from our website due to FTC regulations.”
One wonders about the billions being spent to support bureaucracies like the FTC and the DEA. You would think that their many enforcement activities related to hard drugs would occupy their time, but they seem to have some left over to suppress history as well.
