1) Town of Taos Planning and Zoning Commission – Want to Serve?
The Mayor and Taos Town Council have announced there are vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Anyone wanting to volunteer to serve on this Commission is being asked to submit a letter of intent and interest with a brief summary of experience and education related to the discipline of Land Use planning and regulation. The term of service is for one year with monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm. At each meeting the Commission is required to act upon applications subject to the Town of Taos Land Use Dev Code Ordinance 99-5. Training and Staff resource assistance is provided by the P&Z Department. Inquiries and/or letters of intent regarding this announcement may be directed to the Office of the Mayor Bobby F. 2) Fourth of July — The Town of Taos and the Taos Volunteer Fire Dept. will again sponsor this professional fireworks extravaganza, 9:15 – 10 p.m., July 4th over the Taos Rodeo Grounds. This $20,000 free public display can be viewed from many outdoor locations throughout Taos. Personal fireworks are on sale June 20 through July 7. Taos Volunteer Fire Dept. inspects/monitors what is sold within the Town to make sure products comply with local/state ordinances – and help ensure safety. Be careful. Always have adult supervision. Keep a water source handy.
3) Town of Taos Youth & Family Center invites you to celebrate July’s National Recreation & Parks Month with a “Field Day”, 9 a.m., Wed., July 16, Taos Middle School Track for children 6-12. Free.
- Be part of the “El Vibaron” tradition (The Snake), Fiesta de Taos Children’s Parade, Saturday, July 19. Meet 9 a.m., Enos Garcia Elementary School. Participants will receive a free Taos Youth & Family T-shirt. All ages welcome. Practice for the parade: 1-2 p.m., Thurs., July 17, Y&F Center.
- Free Luau Teen Dance, 7-9 p.m., Fri., July 25, Youth & Family Center with D.J. playing hit music. Teens — bring your own glow in the dark wands and hang out with your friends!
- Free Amazing Bodinni Magic Show, 2-2:45 p.m., Tues., July 29, Youth & Family Center.
