1) State of New Mexico Department of Transportation - Press Release
TRAFFIC UPDATES FOR NM 585 (Cut Off Road to Angel Fire at #68/Paseo del Pueblo Sur and Canon; corner for Lota Burger South, Taos Visitor Center and Chevron Station)
· North Gusdorf St. will be closed, starting Thursday, June 19, for the summer months
o Alternate routes include Camino de Santiago and Cruz Alta
o Area business access will be maintained at all times
· Single lane closures on Weimer St. starting Monday, June 23 for the next several weeks
o Traffic will be guided through the work zone by a flagger during the day; motorists should expect minor delays
o The lane will reopen at approximately 6 pm and through the night
o Motorists should expect delays and will drive on a gravel surface during this operation
The above traffic control is necessary for crews to begin the construction of the actual roundabout intersections. All work schedules are subject to change. For the most current traffic advisories, visit www.nmroads.com. Click on the roadwork icon on the left of the screen.
The scope of work for the project consists of new, multi-lane roundabouts on NM 585 and the intersections of Gusdorf St., Weimer St. and Colores St. There will also be pedestrian improvements, new curb & gutter, lighting, landscaping, and six foot bicycle lanes. The current estimated cost for this project is $7.8 million.

Detour Construction To Begin on US 64
El Prado – Crews will begin constructing a temporary detour for the US 64 roadway rehabilitation project between Placitas Rd. and El Prado’s mile marker 253, according to District Five of the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
Motorists can expect shoulder closures between 8 am and 4 pm and possible intermittent lane closures between 6 pm and 4 am. Traffic will remain undisturbed during the day shift, however motorists may be stopped briefly to allow for trucks and equipment to mobilize. This work is scheduled to last 2-3 weeks.
Traffic will utilize the temporary detour for the duration of the project allowing for traffic to flow as normal and also accommodate easy access to businesses.
The project scope consists of a roadway rehabilitation which includes a mill & overlay, curb & gutter installation, drainage improvements, new signalization at & realignment of Hail Creek Road, ADA and pedestrian improvements. There will also be a continuous left turn lane through the length of the project.
The project is scheduled for substantial completion by November 2008. Final completion is scheduled for June 2009, when the final layer of pavement will be laid due to warmer temperatures. The current estimated cost of this project is approximately $4 million.
