The 2008 version of the Taos River Cleanup is scheduled to take place on Saturday June 7th. Please save this date and let us know as soon as possible if you can participate.  Last year’s cleanup was a great success and a lot of fun for everyone.  We plan to make this year’s version even more successful and fun.
Amigos Bravos, The Water Sentinels of the Taos Sierra Club and Centinel Bank sponsored last year’s effort to clean the trash out of five stretches of the Rio Fernando starting deep in Taos Canyon and running almost to Fred Baca Park, by a group of approximately 50 people from the Taos community including the bank.  This year we hope to double the number of people and to increase the number of rivers we clean.  We had a great time last year because we had so many people and because we were able to get the job accomplished before noon without any one having to do too much dirty work.  This year we want to do the same type of thing. One goal is to meet in the front parking lot at 8:30 AM at the main office of Centinel Bank to build our work teams, carpool to the various work locations and to be working by shortly after 9:00. Another goal is to have the work completed by noon so we can celebrate another year of having clean streams running through our part of the world.  The most important goal is to accomplish goals one and two safely and to have fun doing it.
Please save June 7th on your calendar, please tell your friends about the cleanup/ celebration and please let us know if you think you can join us for the work and the fun. We would like to get an accurate head count beforehand for planning purposes. We need to limit children under 18 to those accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. We look forward to hearing from you.
