Taos Landfill and Regular Chile Line Routes: Monday, May 26, the official holiday for Memorial Day, the Taos Landfill will not be open to the public (although crews work there managing our trash and pick up will still occur), and regular Chile Line Transportation routes will not be operating.

However, there will be a special loop route for the Chile Line all weekend in the Town of Taos downtown area —

In an effort to better circulate visitors and local shoppers around the Town of Taos historic district, the Town of Taos Chile Line Division, Public Works, is running a special ‘circular route’ all three days of this coming Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26, 2008, from 11:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. (see schedule below). Attached are two versions of the map for the special route.

Please assist in promoting this special service to members of the public who may use it so support for future special routes will continue to grow. Print and hand out this information this coming weekend to visitors to the historic district.

This activity is not only supported as part of the Town’s efforts to be more customer service/visitor friendly, but to also assist with circulation/parking issues restricted by current Town-wide construction projects. It is also part of an effort to assist with visitor/local shopper circulation between Town of Taos historic district merchants and Arts & Crafts Fairs in Kit Carson Park. A fair is scheduled this Memorial Day Weekend by Blue Sky Productions.
