3) El Prado U.S. 64 Road Construction: The Town of Taos Chile Line public transportation route schedule is experiencing delays of at least 15 minutes due to NMDOT road construction in the El Prado area – with this situation remaining until construction is complete. Regular Chile Line riders have been informed, and will continue to be updated about this situation as they use the Chile Line, but visitors and occasional riders should be made aware of the ongoing situation. Detailed Chile Line contact and other information can be found by going to http://www.taosgov.com/transportation/chile-line.php.

5) Highlights out of Workshop meeting (these items are heard to determine the disposition of Mayor/Council about how to officially handle/potentially vote on each item moving forward. Should an item interest you that is not highlighted, just email this office for added information.
*
Ernie Atencio, Taos Land Trust and Jenny Parks, Trust for Public Lands – offer from nonprofit sources outside Taos to fund/conduct a renewed assessment/public poll (and eventually, perhaps an official ballot item) on open space identification and preservation approaches.
*
Judy Hoffer, UNM Literacy Program. Requesting $25,000 in 2008-09; received $10,000 last year from Town.
*
Steve Fuhlendorf, Taos County Chamber of Commerce – Request/revisit of extending Town’s parking meter two-hour-free parking program to entire historic district’s meters; gross income in years past from meters is approximately $150,000. Discussion of how program might impact these revenues; how to manage that reduction. Proposal, going to regular meeting May 20, is to extend program to entire historic district through application of meter decals that welcome motorists to Taos, provide notice of two free hours of parking, and indicate “feed meter thereafter” so that members of the public may do so (where the Taos Plaza parking meter hoods cannot enable feeding the meter should someone wish to stay in a space longer). In addition, Taos visitor maps this year include designated free parking and improved highlighting of available public restrooms in the historic district. Second issue is to seek Mayor/Council approval for a temporary, summer stage extension to be added to the Taos Plaza theater pavilion for Thursdays’ Taos Plaza Live free music events. This stage is being provided for free through Dan Sherman, one of the Taos Solar Fest partners, and will be available to Taos Fiestas and other groups performing this summer.
*
Ron Usherwood and TCA Board regarding the facility’s remodel – construction start date is approximately May 19th, and ‘issues’ regarding approvals required from the state/Town, have been cleared.
*
Vista del Canon Condominium Association's push to install a gravity wastewater system (instead of current septic systems) and connect to Town or County's systems is moving foward with Mayor/Council encouragement.
*
Bill Dedmond, Santa Fe Film Festival funding/advertising request, discussion of how to improve/expand film festival activity here in Taos. $5,000 ad request will be examined as part of final budget process/marketing leveraging examination, to be returned to Mayor/Council for vote as June ends. Town advertised last year. Hope is to expand positive tourism results.
*
Taos Artists Organization, asking or matching funds for potential grants to help market this new Taos artists' studio tour, and connected, ongoing activities/objectives. Will be part of discussions as budget finalized. Mayor/Council expressed their active support. More information at http://www.taosartist.org.
