The Dartmouth Pow-Wow & Daryl Concha
Congratulations to Daryl Concha, the Taos Pueblo resident serving as the head woman dancer at the annual Dartmouth Pow-Wow. This event has been held since 1973. There are more than 100 Native American students at Dartmouth. The Native American Studies Department is consistently regarded as one of America’s best.
Daryl’s role requires her to, among other things, lead all dances and award the winner of the Jingle dress dance. Dancing since the age of three, she says that she is very excited. I’m getting this a bit late, but the Pow-Wow is being held today and tomorrow. The Vox newspaper for faculty and staff just released the article. For more, here’s another page on the Pow-Wow.
