Posi-Ouinge at Ojo Caliente

posi-041med.jpgI spend most Sundays driving around in Northern New Mexico. It’s my relaxing day, and the beauty of the area is all I need to recharge for another week.

An easy day trip from Taos is the Ojo Caliente area. Directly behind the Spa is a trailhead for the Posi-Ouinge Pueblo Ruins. The entire hike is only about a mile, however there is a bit of vertical rock climbing right at the beginning. After that first hundred yards, it’s an easy walk.

The Tewa Indians lived in this Pueblo around the 1500’s. There are no walls or any evidence of the buildings, only pottery shards and arrowheads. It was a nice afternoon out though. If you’re at the Ojo Caliente Spa, you might want to spend an hour taking this short hike.
