El Rito and Latir are north of Questa on the way to Colorado. These are areas to the east of the highway. They begin with sagebrush land cover and move up into the foothills with pinon and juniper trees.

Land is affordable in this area, and utilities are available to most of it. The views are grand down and toward the north. There is a diverse mix of construction styles.
