Hiking in Summer is Snowshoeing in Winter in Taos
Our family does a lot of hiking in the summer. There are a great many wonderful trails in the area, with all levels of difficulty. Taos is truly a hiker’s paradise.
We aren’t in the woods as much during the winter, but snowshoes open up a whole new world to the nature lover. It’s amazing how different an area is under snow cover. A hike that had become old to us in the summer will be an entirely new experience on snowshoes.
The modest cost of a pair of snowshoes opens up thousands of acres of national forest and other lands to winter recreation. I’m not a skier, but I do wander through the quiet woods in the winter.
