Though this site has a huge amount of local and tourism information, it is a site about the Taos real estate market. I am a real estate broker, and a buyer brokerage, specializing in helping out of area buyers to purchase property in this very unique vacation and rural community.

The area market is made up of more than 40 named areas, covering Taos County and beyond. Taos land has great topological diversity, with high desert sagebrush land cover all the way to alpine forests. There are rivers, streams and lakes as well.

While this market has suffered with the rest of the nation during the home price and mortgage crisis, it's a different kind of market influenced differently by national market events and trends. With the vast majority of dollars spent for properties here are being spent on vacation properties, it's not a market where people move in for jobs or other normal relocation reasons.

Buyers of homes and land in Taos do not need to buy, and many sellers do not need to sell. Sellers will set a price and hold the line much longer than in other type markets, as they're still enjoying the property every year. Buyers are normally vacationing in Taos frequently, and are comparing Taos real estate ownership to rental they've been doing in the past.
